This image represents the intertwining of the land and spirituality in aboriginal culture. The work is a combination of images taken at the ochre pits in the West McDonald Ranges near Glen Helen Gorge. The Ochre layer represents the use of ochre in aboriginal ceremony. Layered over this is spinifex, representing the land. The two images are melded together and are now inseparable, just as the original custodians of our country see land and culture as a single continuous entity.
