The environment of central Australia is very harsh, yet trees grow out of rocks in an environment where it seems life cannot survive. Flourishing despite the pitiless heat and dry, trees maintain a gracefulness and simplicity that underlines their beauty. This work is a melding of two images - the trees are almost black as they raise their limbs to a sky that has been replaced with an image of a rock from the ground over which human feet walk. The textures in the rock continue into the tree landscape, joining together the human experience of touching the ground with our feet and the natural experience of the trees drawing life from the same ground.
