Driving north east across the dry and dusty cattle country plains from Barcaldine you arrive at the oasis of Lake Dunn. During the day the flies are relentless but after sunset there is magic on the lake. A rough wooden jetty, hewn by some unknown human hand, becomes one with the water, its smoothed surface reflecting the intense colours of the evening sky. A time for those who would despoil this beauty to quieten and to contemplate the wonder of the natural world.
